Assignment briefings
The Outbound Assignments office at the Air Force Military Personnel Section will be conducting an informational briefing May 15 at 10 a.m. and May 16 at 1 p.m. for all enlisted members whose DEROS dates are between January 2013 through March 2013.

This briefing will include, but will not be limited to, information on assignment cycles, retainability requirements and relocation information for dependents going overseas. The goal is to have an open forum to discuss these topics and answer common questions regarding the assignments process.

This briefing is not mandatory and is strictly for informational purposes. We ask that only enlisted members who currently do not have assignments on file, with a DEROS between the months of January 2013 through March 2013 attend, as this will be their current assignment selection cycle.

Due to a 60-person limit, members interested in attending the briefing are requested to send an RSVP email to the Career Development organization box at  673fsscareerdevelopmen@elmendorf.af.mil with their name and the date they would like to attend the briefing no later than 4 p.m. May 11. If there is enough interest, additional briefings may be added.

Public Health will be closed the 1st Thursday of every month from 1330-1630 and the 3rd Thursday of every month from 1200-1630. If you have any questions or concerns please call 580-4014.

Studded Tire Notification
The Alaska studded tire deadline is quickly approaching. Drivers
throughout the state have until Tuesday, May 1, to remove their studded tires. Drivers caught with studded tires after May 1 through September 15 will be cited and could face a $50 per tire fine. This will be enforced at all JBER gates and throughout the installation.

I-Sportsman will replace USARTRAK effective 1 April 2012.

JBER's current recreational access system, USARTRAK, will be replaced with I-Sportsman effective 1 April 2012. This new recreational access system consolidates user requirements for the Joint Base. Recreational users can access I-Sportsman, register and print a permit from their residence or go to either the Boniface Gate Visitor Center or the Arctic Valley Visitor
Center and use the self-help kiosk. You are also able to sign in and out via cell phone with a web browser. This permit is currently free to all individuals eligible to recreate on JBER. Having an I-Sportsman's recreational permit is a pre-condition for recreating on JBER. Recreational
permit violations may result in the loss of recreational access privileges on JBER. To obtain a permit, visit www.jber.isportsman.net or call 855-703-9176 to register.

The I-Sportsman recreation pass alone does not give you access to JBER. To gain access to JBER you will need to have your I-Sportsman recreation pass and stop at either Visitor control center to be vetted onto the installation if you do not have base access. Individuals failing the vetting process will not be allowed on JBER. If you have questions on installation access requirements, see the Security Forces personnel at the Visitor's Centers or call 552-4029.
