9/21/2011 - JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Sept. 20 - A ceremony to recognize the inactivation of the 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and the activation of the 2nd Engineer Brigade will be held at Pershing Field here at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
The 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade activated October 27, 2009.
The 2nd Engineer Brigade trains and deploys modular, maneuver support and combat service support units in support of ongoing contingency operations. The brigade headquarters deploys and executes command and control of attached forces in order to provide full-spectrum maneuver support to Army, joint, interagency, and multinational headquarters.
The unit is commanded by Col. Thomas J. Roth and the unit's Command Sergeant Major is Command Sgt. Maj. James E. Dickens.
The 2nd Engineer's subordinate battalions include the 793rd Military Police Battalion, the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and the 6th Engineer Battalion (Combat) (Airborne).
