5/31/2012 - JOINT BASE ELMENODRF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- May 30 - The Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division deployed from JBER to Afghanistan in December 2011.
The mid-point of the brigade's 12-month deployment will be recognized tomorrow with a four-hour celebration at JBER's Cottonwood Park. The celebration will be conducted by the brigade's rear detachment from 3 to 7 p.m.
The intent of the celebration is to honor and recognize the brigade spouses and families for their tireless service and to commemorate the completion of half of the time their deployed soldiers are currently scheduled to be gone.
Local businesses, the leadership of the Rear Detachment and the leading members of the Brigade Family Readiness Group have joined to help make the event a special occasion for the families of deployed soldiers. Their generous contributions will include door prizes, family oriented static displays, arts and crafts, recreational events for children and a free photo booth for "Spartan Family" pictures to be taken and later delivered by the rear detachment to the brigade's deployed spouses serving in Afghanistan.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Alaska National Guard Armory on the same date and time.
