JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Maj. Sheldon Gardner, a pilot with the 3rd Operation Support Squadron and Airman 1st Class Alex Patton, a crew chief assigned to the 19th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, run through the prelaunch checks on an F-15 Eagle Aug. 24. Three of the last four F-15 Eagles, 19th Fighter Sqaudron, to leave JBER flew to their new destinations this morning, all three heading in separate directions. JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Majors Gavin Peterson and Sheldon Gardner and Capt. Matt Werner flew three of the last four F-15 Eagles to leave JBER to their new destinations Aug. 24. Major Peterson is a pilot with the 353rd Combat Training Squadron, Major Gardner is a pilot with the 3rd Operation Support Squadron and Captain Werner is a pilot with the 19th Fighter Squadron. JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska --The wreckage of a 3rd Wing C-17 Globemaster III , a cargo aircraft, that crashed shortly after take-off at about 6:14 p.m. (Alaska time) during a local training mission July 28, 2010. The four crew members on board were killed in the crash; Majors Michael Freyholtz and Aaron Malone, pilots assigned to the Alaska Air National Guard's 249th Airlift Squadron, Capt. Jeffrey Hill, a pilot assigned to Elmendorf's 517th Airlift Squadron, and Master Sgt. Thomas Cicardo, 249th Airlift Squadron loadmaster. The Safety Investigation Board members have been assigned and will be fully assembled by Aug 2. The investigation is on-going and will continue for an undetermined amount of time.
