Tech.Sgt. Daniel Powers, from Edgewater, Florida, currently assigned to the 3rd Maintenance Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, works on removing the upper fan duct from a F-119-100 "Raptor" F-22 engine. He is attending a 173 hour F-119 jet engine intermediate training course held at the 372nd Training Squadron, Detachment 14.

Dan Oden, instructor with the 372nd Training Squadron, Detachment 14, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, instructs students during the F-119 jet engine intermediate training course 2 December 2011. Combining 173 hours of classroom and practical hands on training, for F-22 engines. Oden has 13 years experiance with F-15 and F-22 engines.

The F-119-100 Pratt and Whitney engine, 16.5 feet long, weighs 5000 pounds, costs 10 million dollars. Only half of the power plant for a F-22 "Raptor" fighter. Tech Sgt. Dan Oden, origionally from Anchorage, returns as a instructor for the 32nd Training Squadron, Detachment 14, on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Oden has 13 years experiance with engines for F-15 and the F-22 fighters.

Jose Caballero listen and prepare the tools for the next step. Instructor Tech. Sgt Dan Oden reviews information on screen. Arthur and Oden teach a 173 hour course on the F-119-100 Pratt and Whitney engines, where students learn to troubleshoot, repair and inspect the 16.5-foot long engine.

Daniel Powers, both assigned to the 3rd Maintenance Squadron, the proper steps for serviceing a Pratt and Whitney F-119-100 engine for a F-22. Oden and Artur are instructors with the 372nd Training Squadron/Detachment 14 on Joint Base Elomendorf-Richardson. The course, F-119 engine intermediate training course consists of 173 hours of classroom instruction and hands on training for students.
