Civilian and military first responders save lives during simulated collision

ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska – First responders work together to save lives in response to a simulated train on bus collision as part of the Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 2007 exercise. Military and civilian emergency medical technicians partnered to transport the simulated victims to medical facilities for treatment. Alaska Shield/Northern Edge is a state of Alaska and U.S. NORTHCOM-sponsored homeland defense exercise involving federal, state, local and private agencies. ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska – Firefighters from Elmendorf Air Force Base’s 3rd Wing attend to a simulated victim of a train collision May 15 as part of the Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 2007 exercise. The May 15 scenario involved civilian and military first responders reacting to an Alaska Railroad train colliding with a bus on Elmendorf. Alaska Shield/Northern Edge is a state of Alaska and U.S. NORTHCOM-sponsored homeland defense exercise involving federal, state, local and private agencies.
